Abstract
This paper deals with the application of new active learning methodologies in the curriculum of the Electronic System´s itinerary of the Degree in TelecommunicationsTechnology and Services Engineering of the University of Oviedo, lectured at the Polytechnic School of Engineering (Escuela Politécnica de Ingeniría, EPI) of Gijon. The new active methodology is the Design-Based Learning (DBL). DBL is a motivating, design-centered teaching method that approximates the student to the real professional world. DBL goes beyond the relationship between knowledge and thinking, helping students to both "know" and "do". In fact, this methodology focuses on “design something” and “learning on the way”. Methodology, task planning, tutor´s role and evaluation of the new tasks introduced in some electronics’ courses will be presented. Finally, the lecturers’ reflections and conclusions regarding the application of DBL will be discussed.
