Resumen
El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo realizar un análisis exploratorio del papel del idioma español como lengua funcional o “linking language” para las empresas multinacionales. A tal efecto, se lleva a cabo un análisis del diseño del sistema de comunicación en una empresa multinacional (selección de la/s lengua/s funcional/es, análisis de la amplitud e intensidad de las mismas), así como del incremento de costes que supone la coexistencia de varias lenguas funcionales. El estudio se completa con un análisis de naturaleza exploratoria realizado a partir de la información proporcionada al respecto por una serie de multinacionales españolas.
