Doctor by the Universidad de Oviedo with the thesis Optimized design of aerodynamic airfoils for vertical axis wind turbines" "diseño optimizado de perfiles aeorodinámicos para su utilización en turbinas eólicas de eje vertical 2019. Supervised by Dr. Sandra Velarde Suárez, Dr. Jesús Manuel Fernández Oro.
After graduating from my M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Oviedo (Spain) and my M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Clausthal (Germany), I finished my PhD on Energy and Process Control (cum laude and extraordinary PhD award) with the thesis entitled "Optimized design of aerodynamic airfoils for vertical axis wind turbines", under a Training of University Professors (FPU) scholarship. I also have a M. Sc. in Education from the International University of La Rioja (Spain). I am currently working at the University of Oviedo (Spain) in the Thermal Machines and Engines Area (Department of Energy). My professional experience has been mainly developed in the University of Oviedo, apart from working in the industry for Arcelor Mittal in Avilés (Spain) in R&D activities. My main areas of research deal with Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Sources, focused on Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer related to energy applications, as well as on Education in Technical Studies. This has led me to work in several R&D projects, transferring research results to both the scientific community and several companies. I also have a high drive for teaching-learning improvement, trying to bring the best out from my students and find synergies between them and potential companies. During my time as researcher, I have been more than 15 months in other R&D international centers - worth highlighting the collaboration with the Sustainable Energy Group (SERG) from the University of Florence (Italy). I have received 500 and have delivered 57.5 h of specialized training. I can speak Spanish, English, German, French and Italian. In addition, I am leading the "Flexenergy group" at the Medialab University Laboratory in Gijón, Spain, for the development, sharing and dissemination of ideas for increasing the energy efficiency of processes and systems, reduce energy consumption and pollution, and encourage more respectful attitudes towards the environment and the use of natural resources through the collaboration with public and private organizations and public dissemination activities. I received an "Industrial Efficiency" Award and a TalentUO Award in Entrepeneurship, "Knowledge Transfer" Modality. I am accredited as Associate Professor by the Spanish National Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation (ANECA).
