Doctor by the Universidad de Oviedo with the thesis Estratigrafía y estructura de la Zona Axial pirenaica en la transversal del Valle de Arán y de la Alta Ribagorça 1991. Supervised by Dr. Juan Luis Alonso Alonso, Dr. Andrés Pérez Estaún, Dr. Josep María Casas Tuset.

Research focuses on Structural Geology and Tectonics. The research lines are: - Geodynamic evolution of the Pyrenees, the Variscan Orogen and the Andes. - Alpine structure of the Cantabrian Mountains. - Structural control of karst. With this work he has delved into the geological problems of large areas of Southern Europe and South America and acquired experience in the field of Applied Geology working on: (1) exploration of Au, Ag, Zn, Pb, Hg deposits, and in other substances, such as Mn, potashes, etc.; (2) collaboration with hydrogeological studies; (3) viability of cement quarries; and (4) support for the construction of large public works (Cantabrian Highway and Somport tunnel).
