Resumen

As a result of rapid global warming, we are currently seeing unprecedented climate change. Furthermore, because cities are growing so quickly without careful planning, the world's urban population is faced with a variety of environmental problems, like floods and the urban heat island effect. Urban populations' susceptibility to environmental and natural disasters is a growing cause for concern, and the need to address these problems quickly has made it clear how essential it is to put proactive solutions in place in cities. The goal of this PhD thesis is to maximise use of resources in cities by identifying environmental issues and taking appropriate action.
