Résumé

Smita Yadav's ethnography tells the story of the Gond, an indigenous group from India who have been displaced after the creation of a tiger reserve and have making a life in the informal economy, ignoring the support or the presence of the state. The author examines in detail the oral history and social institutions of Gond households, relating them to livelihood strategies and flexible forms of work that have emerged in response to their current needs.
