Resumo

The characterization of the fatigue properties of components for the automotive industry is critical when evaluating their functional performance. Although there are standardized methods to evaluate the mechanical properties, both static and dynamic, of powder metallurgical materials, these methods consider parts with standardized geometry and not the characterization of the industrial component. In addition, said standard considers square section test samples and these present limitations when subjecting them to treatments after sintering, such as shot peening. This paper presents the possibility of manufacturing specimens from synchronizing hubs to characterize rotational fatigue, according to standardized processes. In this way, it has been possible to correlate the results of fatigue strength obtained from standardized specimens with the characterization from specimens obtained from industrial parts. Finally, the fracture analysis has confirmed that the area covered by the fatigue mechanism increases with the durability, and this is directly related to the density.
