Resumen

The aim of this work has been to evaluate the capacity of the SPT test to characterize anti-wear coatings applied by laser cladding. Samples were fabricated under production conditions with a cobalt-based hard facing over a 316L base metal. Subsequently, by EDM, miniature tensile samples and SPT samples were obtained, in order to determine the adjustment coefficients to relate the parameters obtained by SPT (elastic limit y and ultimate tensile strength u) with those obtained in tensile strength tests traction. Mechanical properties were evaluated by SPT in the cladding, interface and base material. Additionally, a complete fractographic study was carried out to characterize the failure mechanisms. The results obtained are intended to demonstrate the capacity of this test methodology for the characterization of layers obtained by laser cladding.
