Resumen
The reaction of 2-aminobutadienes such as (I) and (IV) with various carbene complexes are studied. Depending on the substituent at the alkynyl complexes, either [4+2] cycloadditions or tandem [4+2] cycloaddition–cyclopentannulations are observed. They produce complexes like (V) and (VI) or stereoselectively fluorene derivatives like (VII). Vinyl substitution in the carbene complexes, e.g. (VIII), provides an entry to new polycycles such as (IX) and (XI) through cascade double and triple cycloaddition–cyclopentannulation processes.
