Autoconcepto y ansiedadDiferencias entre niños y niñas en una muestra clínica de TDAH

Resumen

La comprensión del TDAH requiere de una visión integral que tenga en cuenta como la sintomatología emocional cursa con los síntomas centrales del trastorno. El presente estudio analiza las diferencias en función del sexo en la ansiedad rasgo y el autoconcepto (académico, emocional, social y físico) en una muestra clínica de niños y adolescentes con TDAH y en qué medida el autoconcepto académico, emocional, social y físico predicen los niveles de ansiedad en niños y niñas. Participaron en el estudio 276 estudiantes de entre 9 y 16 años (181 eran niños y 95 niñas). Se valoró la ansiedad rasgo de los participantes y el autoconcepto académico, emocional, social y físico. Los resultados de los análisis univariados y multivariados de la varianza, mostraron que las niñas presentaban mayores niveles de ansiedad (de forma estadísticamente significativa) y niveles más bajos en cada uno de los componentes del autoconcepto (no estadísticamente significativos). Además, el análisis de regresión reflejó que el autoconcepto emocional predecía los niveles de ansiedad rasgo para ambos sexos, y el autoconcepto social era un predictor significativo de los niveles de ansiedad rasgo en los niños. Se plantea la relevancia de profundizar en el componente emocional que acompaña al TDAH.
