Abstract

Advance Directives are written documents in which patients state their wishes or medical treatment preferences in order to, in case of became unable to make decisions of their own, these will be made by other person. These documents receive in Spain several names. The legislation uses two mainly: Advance Directives or Previous instructions. But laws about ADs in every seventeen provinces in which Spain is divided can introduce slight differences among these names. For example, Andalucia refers to them as Early Life Wills. The name Life Testament has no official neither legal acknowledgement, although it has been popularly used and it's the most known among official definitions. The aim of this report is to present a general revision about the estate of the developed of early wills in Spain. This revision will be useful for those people who make contact for the first time with these documents.
