Resumen

Anna Vertua Gentile was a teacher and writer at a fundamentaltime in the history of Italy, since she lived through the nineteenthand twentieth centuries as a direct witness of the political, socialand cultural changes in which the country was submerged beforeand after of its unification as Kingdom. She was one of the mostproductive and indefatigable authors of the moment and enjoyedgreat success, cultivating different literary genres: stories for boysand girls, children's plays, in addition to the so-called "behaviormanuals", aimed in particular at female public with a clearlypedagogical and educational purpose. However, like so many otherwomen writers, she was forgotten and her work was hardlytranslated. With this article, we intend to rescue his figure in orderto be justly recognized.
