Zusammenfassung

The aim of this paper is to examine the role of performance reporting in local governments. First, we explore the conceptual and legal framework of public management and public information systems. Then, we empirically assess the disclosure of information about public management at the biggest 110 Spanish municipalities . The results evi - dence the lack of political will to establish sound processes of planning, evaluation and control, along with its cor - responding information and communication system .
