Abstract
The aim of this paper is to show the importance of forestry culture for rural families in the north of Spain. All agrarian farms have small fields which they can use for woods and not farming. The majority need extra income, because that from caltle-farming is not sufficient to survive on, therefore, in these fields they grow trees. In this paper we link economic dynamism on these farms with the cultivation of woods. The more dynamic farms with young people and consequently the possibility of continuance are more favour of planting trees. However, they are less inclined to use trees with rapid growth for this purpose (eucalyptus and pine). On the other hand, more traditional farms with little possibility of continuance, without young people working, are more inclined to grow eucalyptus.
