MARIA
SALVADOR FERNANDEZ

María Salvador obtained a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Valladolid (Spain) in 2014, carrying out her final project at the Department of Process Bioengineering at the University of Wageningen (The Netherlands). In 2016 she obtained the Master in Environmental and Health Biotechnology at the University of Oviedo (Spain), and recently (2022), she received her Doctorate in Materials Science with cum laude mention under the co-direction of the Department of Physics of the University of Oviedo (Spain) and the Istituto di Struttura della Materia, Rome (Italy). For six months, she carried out a postdoctoral stay at the Technical University of Eindhoven (Netherlands), where she designed, developed, and optimized sensors based on magnetoresistance to couple them to magnetic immunoassays, thus developing a sensitive and portable sensor. Nowadays, María is a Margarita Salas postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Physics of the University of Oviedo and the Institute of Materials Science of Madrid (CSIC), where her research activity focuses on the synthesis and characterization of nanostructures for their use in bioanalysis and regeneration of tissues. María has participated in several national and international projects, of which she has led and coordinated the international MagCOVID project, awarded by the IEEE Magnetics Society within the Seed Funding Call, a call intended only for students. She has written 16 JCR research articles and one book chapter. Maria has presented her scientific results at 18 national and international conferences. It has also participated as an organizing committee in national and international conferences, such as Nanomaterials Applied to Life Sciences (NALS2017, Gijón, Spain), International Symposium on Metastable, Amorphous and Nanostructured Materials (ISMANAM2018, Rome, Italy), International Conference on Fine Particle Magnetism ( ICFPM2019, Gijón, Spain), Young Researchers in Magnetism (YRinM2020, Online) and Around the Clock Around the Globe (AtcAtG2022, Online). She also actively participates in disseminating science for children, teenagers, and society in activities such as the European Researchers' Night, the Science Week of the University of Oviedo, or Breakfast with a Scientist. In addition, María has recently been elected as vice president of 'Students in Magnetism', the student chapter of the IEEE Magnetic Society, whose main objective is dissemination among the younger generations. María is a regular reviewer of international journals in the field of magnetism, sensors, and analytics. Finally, María is the web developer and community manager of the NanoBioAp Network, the Spanish Magnetism Club (CEMAG), and the MAGNES research group.
