RUIZ DE LA PEÑA GONZALEZ

Isabel Ruiz de la Peña González holds a PhD in History of Art from the University of Oviedo (2000). Since 2007 she is Professor of Art History at the University of Oviedo. Member of the accredited research group DocuLab. Laboratory of historical documentation, since 2016. She has been a F.P.U. scholarship holder (1997-2000) and has extended her specialization in Medieval Art History in successive research stays at the University of Tours (1997), the Centre d'Études Superieures de Civilisation Médievale de Poitiers (1997, 1998, 2001 and 2002) and at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2003). In the field of heritage management, she has participated in the "Inventory-catalogue of the artistic treasure assets of interest for the Principality of Asturias", of which she was Principal Investigator (2013-2014) and in the "Revision of the Architectural Catalogue of Oviedo" (2002). She has been a collaborating researcher in competitive research projects, focused on the study of the relations between Church and city in the Middle Ages, as well as in the Asturian monasticism. Among the most relevant are "Thesaurus Architecturae Hispaniae Medievalis" (MEC2005-HUM2005-04179), directed by Dr. I. G. Bango (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, 2005-2008) and "MIGRAVIT. The death of the Prince in France and in the Hispanic kingdoms (11th-15th centuries). Comparison models" (HAR2016-74846-P), directed by Dr. F. Miranda (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, 2017-2020), in collaboration with Casa de Velázquez, as a member of the international research team. She is currently a member of the research team of the project "MINORES. Constructing the memory of peripheral elites in the crown of Castile and the kingdom of Navarre". SS. X-XV" (PID2022-138387NB-I00), co-directed by Dr. Eloísa Ramírez and Mª Teresa López de Guereño (2023-2027). She has been principal investigator of the project "Night Spanish Team" (S-TEAM), funded by the European Commission within the program "Horizon 2020- the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (2014-2020)", in which the University of Oviedo coordinated a consortium formed by 8 universities of the G9 group, with the support of the University of La Rioja. She has presented papers in seminars and national and international congresses (France, Great Britain, Portugal) on Medieval Art History. She is the author of numerous articles in scientific journals of impact and of the following books: Two examples of medieval religious architecture in Eastern Asturias: Santa Eulalia de Onís and San Acisclo de Pendueles (1999), Arquitectura religiosa medieval en el espacio oriental de Asturias: siglos XII-XVI (2002), The chapel of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores de Grado. Construction, history and restoration (2005), El legado de Magín Berenguer (1918-2000). Arte medieval asturiano (2008), co-author with J.V. García Marsilla and C. Mancho of the university manual Historia del Arte Medieval (2012) and Guía del Románico de Villaviciosa. Itinerarios turístico-culturales (2021). He has been teaching in the interuniversity master's degrees "The medieval city" and "The cities of the Atlantic Arc", and since the 2019-20 academic year in the "Master of Advanced Studies in History of Art: research and management", at the University of Oviedo. He has directed two doctoral theses in the Dept. of Art History and Musicology at the University of Oviedo (2017 and 2023), and is currently directing another one and co-directing two). In the field of university management she has been Director of the Research Dissemination and Promotion Area of the Vice-Rectorate for Research at the University of Oviedo (2016-February 2021). Since October 2020 she has been a member of the National Accreditation Commission for Access to University Teaching Bodies (ACADEMIA- ANECA Program).
