Doctor by the Universitat de Barcelona with the thesis Methodological strategies in contemporary symbiosis research and their historical roots from mechanistic to non-mechanistic modes of explanation 2020. Supervised by Dr. José Antonio Díez Calzada, Dr. John Dupré.

I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Oviedo and the PI of the projects “An Exploration of the Philosophy of Lineages in the Light of Contemporary Biology” (Agencia Estatal de Investigación) and “An Ontological Examination of the Evolutionary Transitions in Individuality” (Fundación BBVA). My current research focuses on the ontology of the life sciences, with special emphasis on the ontological implications of mathematical and experimental modelling in multispecies research. Additionally, I have conducted extensive research on the theoretical foundations of evolutionary theory, and its ontological implications. My work is deeply interdisciplinary, and I have collaborated with over 20 researchers from different countries, and different stages in their academic career. I have worked in different institutions around Europe, including the University of Barcelona, the University of Exeter, Bielefeld University, and the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Additionally, I have enjoyed research starts at the University of Bordeaux, and the Konrad Lorenz Institute in Vienna. From November 2020 and until November 2023, I was the PI of my own research project funded by the Polish National Research Foundation (Narodowe Centrum Nauki) at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, and I have been part of 1 German Research Project at Bielefeld University, and 3 Spanish Research Projects at the University of Barcelona.
