PhD in Economics and Full Professor at the University of Oviedo, where she has headed the Department of Economics since 2022. She has been a visiting researcher at institutions such as the University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia) and the University of Durham (UK). Her research focuses on social and income inequalities, well-being, labour markets, health economics, efficiency and productivity, and the environment. She specialises in evaluating public policies using advanced quantitative and econometric methods. Her work is widely published in international journals, including Ecological Economics, Regional Studies, Health Economics, The European Journal of Health Economics, Energy Economics, Energy Policy, Applied Research of Quality of Life, or Transport Policy to name but a few. In project management, she has been the principal investigator for projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness since 2014. She also leads a grant from La Caixa (2023-2025) under the “Social Observatory of La Caixa Foundation” program and has secured contracts with various state and regional governments and cultural foundations. Additionally, she has participated as an expert panel member in several projects funded by AIREF (Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility). Regarding her experience in university evaluation and management, she is a member of the State Evaluation Agency (Agencia Estatal de Investigacion) since 2018. She has also acted as reviewer for other agencies such as the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and national private foundations. She directs the Master’s in Economics: Instruments of Economic Analysis. Finally, she is a member of the Oviedo Efficiency Group, accredited group of excellence by the ANEP since 2012; and member of the Spanish Association of Health Economics since 2008.
