Prof. Manuel Menéndez-González is a tenured professor at the University of Oviedo, and a neurologist at the Hospital Universitario Central de Asturias. After completing his neurology residency, he received specialized training in dementias and behavioral neurology and has participated in numerous courses, conferences, and symposia. He belongs to various scientific societies and professional associations and has held various management and participation roles in institutions, commissions, committees, and societies. He has a solid academic background with several postgraduate diplomas. His teaching experience includes neuroanatomy and clinical neurology courses, particularly on neurodegenerative diseases, and he has supervised master's and doctoral theses. As a researcher, Menéndez-González has participated in research projects funded by public and private funds, health outcomes research studies, and clinical trials. His expertise spans from basic and applied research to transferring results into clinical practice, highlighting his commitment to innovation and improving treatments for neurological diseases. He has served as the Principal Investigator (PI) for projects funded at regional, national, and European levels. He has published extensively in books, journals, and conference proceedings (+200 papers, H-index: 38). He is recognized for his work in the genetics of neurodegenerative diseases and in developing innovative technologies for these conditions.
