Doctor by the Universidad de Oviedo with the thesis La apolipoproteína D y su implicación en la neurodegeneración del sistema nervioso central y periférico 2010. Supervised by Dr. Ana María Navarro Incio, Dr. Jorge Luís Tolivia Fernández, Dr. Diego Sánchez Romero.
Eva Martínez Pinilla obtained her Ph.D. in 2010 in the “Neurobiology and Aging” laboratory of the Morphology and Cell Biology department at University of Oviedo (FPU Predoctoral grant, AP2005-3815) from the Ministry of Education and Science. During her postdoctoral stage, she acquired a broad experience on the characterization of cannabinoid GPCR heteromers, first in the laboratory of “Cell and Molecular Neuropharmacology” (Torres Quevedo grant, PTQ-11-04782) and later in the “Basal Ganglia Neuroanatomy Laboratory” (Juan de la Cierva grant, FPDI-2013-16410) of the Neuroscience department of Centre for Applied Medical Research (CIMA) at University of Navarra where she participated in several national and international research projects (SAF2012-39875-C02-01, ERA-NET neuron program, Fundació La Marató de TV3). In 2015 she joined the “Aging Brain and Neurodegenerative Diseases Group” (GECYEN) of the Morphology and Cell Biology department at University of Oviedo, that belongs to the Health Institute of the Principality of Asturias (ISPA) and to the Institute of Neurosciences of the Principality of Asturias (INEUROPA), where currently holds a position of “Profesora Titular de Universidad”. In last years, and being part of GECYEN group, she has launched an emerging line of research on the role of the endocannabinoid system in multiple sclerosis (PAPI-20-EMERG-18; 2022-073-INTRAMUR-M). As a result of all this work, she has participated in multiple national and international conferences and scientific meetings, and she has published more than 60 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and 4 book chapters (h index: 28), which has been evident by being deserving of recognition of two six-year research of international quality research (CNEAI). Eva has also carried out a multitude of activities to disseminate her research activity, in parallel with an intense teaching activity in the Biology and Medicine degrees, among others, and in the Master in Neurosciences Research at the University of Oviedo.
