Office 227, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Oviedo. ------------------ More than 25 years of experience as researcher: grant holder at University of Oviedo, Assistant Researcher (Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher) and Researcher Associate at Lancaster University and Juan de la Cierva researcher, Ramón y Cajal researcher (with I3 certificate), Assistant Professor (I3), Associate Professor and Full Professor at University of Oviedo. Expert in first principles simulations and analytical models applied to nanoscience (quantum transport and electronic structure of nanowires, nanotubes, molecular systems, 2D materials and other nanometric systems) and materials science (electronic structure and magnetism in bulk systems and surfaces). Experience in using developing ab-initio simulation codes such as Siesta and Quantum Espresso and using finite-element multi-purpose codes such as COMSOL. Author of 88 publications in international journals, some of the highest level (1 Nature Materials, 2 Nature Nanotechnology, 2 Journal of the American Chemical Society, and 3 Physical Review Letters). H-index 32 and 5.409 citations according to WOS. Speaker in 25 invited talks in national and international congresses. Principal investigator in a Ramón y Cajal project, one project of the University of Oviedo, two projects of the Spanish Supercomputing Network, one project of the Spanish National Plan, and one European project M-ERA.NET. 3 research contracts with the steel company ArcelorMittal. Various research stays in national and international centres (Autonomous University of Madrid, Adam Mickiewicz University and EPFL, among others). Coauthor of two quantum transport codes (Smeagol and Gollum), which have generated two academic licenses and have been used by more than 200 groups worldwide. Author of one patent on DNA sensors. Experience in directing and organizing research activities: various conferences and schools, including one international school in the Centre Européen de Calcul Atomique et Moléculaire (CECAM). Teaching experience in diverse degree (10 in Spanish and 1 in English) and master (2) subjects. Participation in two projects of educational innovation. Supervision of 1 Doctoral Thesis, 11 End of Degree Works and 2 End of Master Projects.
