Doctor by the Universidad de Oviedo with the thesis Los procedimientos de insolvencia en el marco de los grupos multinacionales de sociedades 2006. Supervised by Dr. Pilar Rodríguez Mateos.
Graduate in Law (2001) and Ph. D. (2006) by the University of Oviedo, where he is Professor of Private International Law and General Secretary (previously Vice-Dean and Academic Secretary of the Department of Private Law and Corporations). Consultor and member in 20 projects and contracts, inter alia, of the EU Comission, Interamerican Bank of Development or OHADAC. Judicial Expert of the European Network of Judicial Training (2013, 2016, 2021), Secretary of the Spanish Chapter of the European Court of Arbitration and former international expert of the Court of Arbitration of Oviedo, as well as consultor of business. Visiting Professor or Lecturer of several European Universities (Complutense, País Vasco, Granada, Autónoma de Barcelona, CEU San Pablo, Escuela Internacional de Mediación, Coimbra, Bayreuth, Ruhr-Bochum, Do Minho, Moscow, Kingston and Porto) and Ibero-American Universities Asunción, La Habana, Rosario, Concepción-Chile, Instituto Global de Altos Estudios en Ciencias Sociales de Santo Domingo, Universidad de los Andes de Bogotá). Research stays in the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (London), in the Max Planck Institut für ausländisches und internationales Privatrecht (Hamburg) and in the Institut Suisse de Droit Comparé (Lausanne). Former Secretary of the Anuario Español de Derecho Internacional Privado, Counselor of the US Journal Business and Economic Research and former Counselor of Revista Electrónica de Estudios Internacionales, former Redactor of the Revista Española de Derecho Internacional and Redactor of the journal La Ley Unión Europea. Former Codirector of the LLMM Legal Protection of Vulnerable Groups. Former Coordinator of agreements with Universities of Sheffield, Poitiers, Porto, Coimbra, Helsinki, Bayreuth, Pisa, LUMSA Roma, Teramo, Milano, Verona and Victoria (New Zealand). Former Director of the workshops of international law and civil and commercial arbitration of the Bar Association of Oviedo. Author of 5 books, a sixth one as coauthor, more than 60 chapters of books and articles, 4 international scientific documents in matters of Private International Law, Business Law and Inmigration Law. Participant in more than 55 national and international academic events (included Universities of Oxford and Cambridge). Member of the Real Academia Asturiana de Jurisprudencia, of the Conference of European Insolvency Law, of the Instituto Hispano Luso Americano de Derecho Internacional and of the Centro de Estudios del Impacto Social de la Inteligencia Artificial.
