Doctor by the Universidad de Oviedo with the thesis Aprendizaje de funciones de valoración a partir de ordenaciones 2003. Supervised by Dr. Antonio Bahamonde Rionda, Dr. Juan José del Coz Velasco.

Jorge Díez is a Computer Engineer (2000) and a Doctor in Computer Science (2003) from the University of Oviedo. Between 2000 and 2002 he worked for the Regional Agri-Food Research and Development Service (SERIDA) of the Principality of Asturias, a public research organization that executes agricultural and food research programs in the Principality. This led him to collaborate in various research projects in which Artificial Intelligence techniques were applied to solve agri-food and genetic problems. At this stage it took shape what would ultimately become his doctoral thesis and would set the course of his research: the problems of preferences and ordering. During his stay at this research center he had the opportunity to apply Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques to solve real problems. Later he joined the University of Oviedo as an Assistant Professor (end of 2002) and continues there, being now a Full University Professor in the area of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence.
