Emma Álvarez Prendes is a professor in the area of French Philology at the University of Oviedo and an associate member of the Lattice laboratory (CNRS / PSL / ENS). Her research falls within the field of semantic-pragmatic interaction, with a special focus on the expression of concessivity and discourse markers in French and Spanish, approached from both synchronic and diachronic perspectives. Since 2021, she has been the principal investigator of the accredited research group OPÉRAS and currently coordinates the project “Discourse Operators in the French Language: From Temporality to the Expression of Speaker Attitude. A Synchronic, Diachronic, and Contrastive Analysis” (PID2023-146508NB-I00), funded by MCIU / AEI / FEDER, EU). Among her publications, the monograph "Concessivity in Contemporary Spanish and French: From the Prototype to Marginal Cases" (Peter Lang, 2023, Sprache – Gesellschaft – Geschichte series) stands out.
