Zusammenfassung
The deacon Laureano María Sani, member of the Economic Society of Cuenca (1783) and later resident in Granada (1814), attempted to publish the hendecasyllabic romance "La Religion" in 1778. The censorship process was devastating, as the Council asked the Vicar of Madrid, Francisco Javier Ruiz, for an opinion, who concluded that "it is not appropriate to print it", causing the poem to remain unpublished until today along with its censorship. In the present work we offer the edition and study of the poem, 370 vv., which consists of a curious biblical summary filled with neoclassical ingredients and very close to what has been called philosophical poetry of the Enlightenment.
