Abstract

The suicidal problem is undoubtedly one of the hardest faced by the mental health professional. In helping people with ideas of suicide, they often walk around groping, lacking a map and a support system to help them fi nd their way in the work of alleviating suffering and preventing new suicidal crises. This article we present ideas and techniques of Brief Family Therapy applied to people with suicidal ideas. It is concluded that Brief Family Therapy can be very useful in public services in the care and prevention of suicidal behaviors.
