Abstract

The present work presents the results of the technological, morphological and stylistic analysis of ceramic vessels from residential contexts corresponding to the Formative period (ca. 900 BC - ca. 900 AD) of the El Bolsón valley, located in the department of Belén, province from Catamarca. The occupation in the valley in this temporary segment accounts for a prehispanic peasant territory made up of different facilities for agricultural-livestock production, obtaining food resources, permanent residences, circulation areas and places with temporary occupation (Korstanje 2005, 2007). In turn, that territory has been assembled into interaction networks that connected people and objects on a regional scale. Regarding pottery, previous works analyzed ceramic assemblages from the Regional Developments period and from the Los Viscos site. On this occasion, the earliest pottery material is analyzed for the first time, coming from different residential units of three of the sites located in the northern sector of the valley, looking for an approximation to the "way of doing", in order to generate and discuss the information regarding their production and consumption in this early social context.
