Abstract

Sports betting relies largely on the well-being of the sports industry, with which it maintainsa co-dependent relationship and to which it brings both benefits and risks. Recently,this market's development has been influenced by the expansion of gambling opportunities,technological advancements, and increased availability of betting sites on the Internet, aswell as by the effects of the restrictions imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This paperprovides an economic overview of the recent evolution and current state of the Spanishsports betting industry.
