Resumen
The aim of this article is to analyse two essays on literary criticism of the writer Adelaide Bernardini published by the palermitan critic Francesco Biondolillo, “La letteratura e la critica nel 1912”, which appeared in the journal Aprutium and Macellatio Capuanae Bernardinaeque (1913) in collaboration with Mariotto Mariotti, with the aim of hindering Bernardini’s development and consolidation as a female writer in 20th century Italy. In this sense, both works are studied from the perspective of the theories of Joanna Russ (1983) to examine the strategies used by Biondolillo to achieve his goal, showing how misogyny in literary criticism responded to personal and gender issues and not to the meticulous study of works written by women.
