Abstract

The precise placement of dental implants is fundamental in order to be able to design a prosthesis which fulfills the aesthetical and functional requirements of the patient, and simultaneously allows clear phonetics and does not make oral hygiene too dificult. In order to achieve this a surgical guide is essential: it must provide a good system of orientation, be comfortable, have an adequate intraoral fixation, allow freedom of choice to the surgeon and be able to be used during image-diagnostic procedures. In accordance with this criteria we have designed the profile surgical guide based on the use of the buccal contour of the missing teeth as a system of orientation.
