Abstract

In a context of multiple interrelationships, tourism and sustainability converge in different approaches to territorial development. The growing promotion of urban tourism, which is cause and reflection of the use of multiple cultural manifestations (as well as the places where they are rooted), is clear proof that cultural heritage constitutes an economic resource that progressively acquires greater value. However, it is also evident that its development can create tensions on such resources and affect the sustainable development of the territories and the quality of life of local communities. It requires regulations that include specific models of balanced development. Any tourism development must take into account the risk of losing the values and qualities of urban space when community and ways of life that give it meaning languish or disappear
