Abstract

The attention that criticism has given to the double direction of the American issue theme in Benito Jerónimo Feijoo is much more abundant and diverse than had been previously assummed. The interest in how the Father Master mapped the New Continent, and how it was read overseas, already appears timidly in the first critical texts of the 700 and in 19th-century criticism, it maintained its place in the classical bibliography on the Benedictine and has aroused, from 1930s to the present, about fifty monographic articles on different matters related to America and Feijoo.
