Resumen

Under the methodology of a clinical research and the support of a proposed model based in a process-approach, this study will analyze the performance measurement system of one particular company, trying to idendify some dysfunctions or inconsistencies in its process, to tailor a diagnosis about the possible causes and to determine the impact that those dysfunctions or inconsistencies could be bringing about on the manager's job and on the organizational performance, suggesting, at the same time, some considerations to overcome or avoid them. The conclusions are oriented to make a contribution to the empirical and theoretical literature in the field, pointing out, simultaneously, some guidelines for future reserach; likewise, with the purpose of approaching those conclusions to the managers, it will be suggested some considerations to evaluate and improve the bill of health of the performance measurement system of their organizations. Additionally, this study will try to asses the possibilities and limitations of the applied methodology and method for this kind of studies, specially evaluating its potentialities to inquire into the causes and consquences of those dysfunctions or inconsistencies and to identify the scope and the nature of the improvement's initiatives.
