Abstract
The work begins with a theoretical approach to gender equality in higher education institutions to then show some data on the situation of the University of Oviedo and end with a critical reflection based on the implementation of the two teaching innovation projects by the Kangaroo Community during the 2019- 2020 and 2020-2021 academic years (PINN-19-A-045 and PINN 20-B-007). Despite the undeniable progress identified at the University of Oviedo, to date the commitment of the entire university institution is still necessary to promote the necessary changes. As part of the achievements, it is worth mentioning the creation of the Equality Unit, the Protocol against Harassment, and two Equality Plans. The reflection also includes the Kangaroo Community since, despite the commitment to the subject, neither of the two projects developed has expressly incorporated the gender and intersectional perspective in its initial approach. Specifically, some data obtained from the implementation of both teaching innovation projects, relative to both the student body and the faculty involved, are analyzed. Finally, the work proposes some conclusions for future interventions that involve institutional, teaching and research practices.
