Résumé

Artificial hydrophobic surfaces have a great potential in a wide range of industrial applications owing to their self-cleaning, anti-biofouling, anti-fogging, anti-sticking, anti-corrosion and anti-contamination properties. The equipment of fibers and textiles with hydrophobic properties is of high interest for textiles with water, oil or soil repellent properties. We have synthesized different new indigo and triarylmethane (TAM) derivatives adding to their structures polyfluorinated moieties or long hydrocarbonated chains, in order to promote their hydrophobicity. We have stained cotton fabrics with these dye derivatives and measured their water contact angles. In the case of indigo derivatives contact angles higher than 130o were obtained, showing that these stained fabrics present hydrophobic properties. In the case of TAM, contact angles over 150o were achieved proving superhydrophobicity. Nowadays, surface contamination by microbes is a universal challenge in medical, domestic, and industrial settings. Due to the development of antibiotic resistance by different kind of bacteria, the creation of new microbicidal materials is important. New silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have been prepared using different antibiotics derivatives as stabilizers, in order to find synergistic effect between ligands and nanoparticles. Moreover we have prepared microbicidal cotton fabrics using a simple way of anchoring these antibiotics derivatives to them. Microbicidal and biocompatibility assays have been carried out showing excellent results. These results have led us to the writing of a patent registered in the UK.
