Abstract
This paper presents an experiment regarding the introduction of gamification strategies into the classroom to promote learning based on games and students’ skills on continuous study, competitiveness, teamwork and sociability. More specifically, the experiment is aimed at adapting the so-called escape rooms, the recent and trendy recreational activities, to educational environments in such a way as to use practical exercises of a subject along with thetypical riddles incorporated in the aforementioned activities. The study is done in Electrical Technology, set within the second year of the Degrees in the Industrial Engineering speciality at the University of Oviedo (2017/2018) and taught by the first author of this paper. A summary of the experiment and its results is included in the paper.
