Resumo
In the last few years the vegetation study techniques have experienced remarkable changeswidely ranging from the molecular type ones to the Geographic Information Systems (Terradas,2001). Among both ends many innovations in the measurement of ecophysiologic variables arefound, direct or through teledetection, as well as other nondestructive analytical techniques.Together with the improvement of the techniques of modelization, simulation and statisticaltreatment, they have allowed the development of tools which approachthe territorial analysis of the vegetation on different spacetime scales. The aim of this talk is toanalyze the role of these techniques in relation to land use characterization, their relevance tothe production valuation, and the application of teledetection and GIStechniques in socioeconomic and environmental issues.
