Abstract

This paper presents the results of a teaching innovation activity, developed in the Degrees in Economics taught at the Universities of Oviedo and Rey Juan Carlos of Madrid, consisting of the development of a game-contest, which aims to help to establish the knowledge acquired by students in the field of economic analysis of taxes. To this end, a set of practices containing news, related to public revenue, have been proposed. They offer both theoretical and applied information, including statistical data, which the students have had to contrast, exposing their conclusions about their veracity. Our experience allows us to affirm that the realization of this collaborative game as a learning method, together with the possibility of obtaining a “prize” in the qualification, have constituted a powerful stimulus for students to take interest in the development of the necessary knowledge and skills. to rigorously analyze the economic effects of the economic activity of the public sector, both in terms of expenditure and public revenue
