La salud mental durante el primer año del COVID-19 y su relación con la actividad física:una revisión narrativa de la literatura

Resumen

El estallido del brote del nuevo Coronavirus (COVID-19) ha provocado, en menos de 2 años, más de 4,9 millones de fallecimientos a nivel mundial. Se estima que durante el primer año de pandemia esta cifra se situó en 3 millones. Algunas de las medidas iniciales para luchar contra la propagación del virus consistieron en limitar los contactos sociales y la movilidad de los ciudadanos mediante confinamientos domiciliarios. Como consecuencia, surgieron múltiples trastornos relacionados con la salud mental de la población. Se realizó una búsqueda en la web of science para identificar y revisar las publicaciones científicas sobre el impacto que supuso el primer año del COVID-19 en la salud mental, haciendo especial énfasis en la relación con la actividad física. Las principales conclusiones que se pueden extraer es que han aparecido síntomas notables de ansiedad, depresión, problemas del sueño y síntomas de trastornos de estrés postraumático (TEPT) en un porcentaje significativo de la población, así como en grupos específicos como estudiantes o profesionales de la salud. Finalmente, se destaca la amplia investigación que se ha llevado a cabo para analizar la relación positiva entre la práctica de actividad física y la salud mental durante el primer año de la pandemia.
