Abstract
The northwestern part of Iberia brings together exceptional geological features related to the development of a hyperex- tended continental margin close to a triple point and a later partial tectonic inversion. This is a highly interesting area for the study of the role of tectonic inheritance in the evolution of the extensional continental margins and their inversion, but there is a great deficit of information. All these issues are the foundations for the MARIBNO amphibious project (PGC2018- 095999-B-I00), where in 2021 and 2022, 2D multichannel marine reflection seismic (~4000 km), and wide-angle seismic data along 3 offshore-onshore transects (~600 km), multibeam bathymetry, grav-mag and ultra-high resolution seismic data will be acquired. This is complemented with onshore grav-mag data and several geological field mapping. The objectives are focused on the study of the crustal structure, the tectonic control by the structures prior to the alpine stages and the mapping and characterization of the crustal domains combining geological and geophysical criteria.
