Abstract
In the academic year 2015-2016 the Educational Guidance and Teacher Training Service, attached to the General Directorate for Academic Planning and Innovation (Department for Education and Culture, Regional Government of Asturias) planned the implementation of an experimental project aimed at turning Special Education Centers into Resource Centers. At the same time students enrolled in the combined schooling modality will be guaranteed educational success in an ordinary schooling modality. Setting up open classrooms and carrying out itinerant support are two initiatives implemented within this Action Plan, and they began in the school year 2016-2017. From the assessment and monitoring carried out by the educational community, it is clear that they have become a benchmark for good educational practice in the region. Currently, there are twelve open classrooms in operation.
