Zusammenfassung
In this paper we describe the historical process of the production of zinc by the pyrometallurgical route since thediscovery of zinc as a metal until the middle of the 20th century, the arbitrary period that we have set to completethis succinct study. In addition to an analysis of pyrometallurgical evolution of smelting zinc in the present work, weprovide data for the history of zinc production by electrolytic route, from the preliminary laboratory works to theinstallation of the first plant in the United States
