Resumen

This article navigates the methodology created by Paisaje Transversal for Madrid City Hall for the development of Integral Plans for Regeneration Strategies (IPRS) within the city. IPRSs are a transversal and replicable tool that can be useful for participated and integrated urban regeneration processes in vulnerable neighborhoods of Madrid. The methodology proposes plans that focus on the integration of quantitative data and indicator analysis with social participation, which is what makes IPRSs unique. Their goal is to organize neighborhood regeneration and renovation processes taking into account the different stakeholders, as well as to establish guidelines and priorities for better coordinating different actions and defining a plan. The IPRSs embrace three channels: broadcasting, citizenry and social participation processes. The broadcasting effort helps widen the local citizens that are committed to the project, which increases the information and perception exchange and therefore creates richer proposals. The citizenry channel focuses on educating about the importance of social participation, public space, urban ecology or social identity. The social participation channel proposed management models and participatory urban designs. The IPRS methodology has been implemented in Virgen de Begoña and Casco Viejo de Puente de Vallecas neighborhoods.
