Resumo

In this paper we will be reflecting on goddess Juno’s ability and how it serves as tool to create discourse on issues such as femininity and certain codes of conduct. These can be seen projected in social context through the iconographic program of the empresses or through feasts like Matronalia. Nevertheless, we will also focus on the deliberate construction of these messages that leads to the simplification of Juno’s divine character, often presented as a “goddess of the matrons”, despite the complexity of her worship, as well as her different epiclesis and religious manifestations, revealing a far more different reality.
