Resumen
This work evaluated the effect of using a biological additive in silages elaborated from two monocultures of legume forages. For this purpose, 16 pilot farms were selected and sowed whit pea or fava bean in monoculture as winter forage, both with a seeding rate of 150 kg of seed per hectare. With the harvested forage, laboratory silages were elaborated under controlled management conditions. After a stabilization period of 60 days, the nutritive, fermentative and aerobic stability characteristics of fava bean and pea silages were evaluated. The results show that the biological additive used improves the fermentation process, with a lower pH and ammonia nitrogen values and controlling the secondary fermentation, but shows no positive effect with respect to the aerobic stability of the silages after opening.
