A review of literature on psychological features of patients with atopic dermatitis was made, to find out the lack of basic research on the topic. Research concerns mainly the following psychosocial characteristics: personality, anxiety, depression, mother-child relationship, stress and quality of living. The clinical perspective emphasizes the role of psychological aspects throughout the evolution of this dermatological disorder even though conclusions in literature show a lack of consistency.
