Abstract

The standardization of test methods and principal aspects related to the conservation of cultural heritage, it has begun in 2004 with the creation of the Normalization European Committee, CEN/TC 346 Conservation of Cultural Property, which has the responsibility not only of drafting protocols of laboratory tests, but also propose the recommendations most adapted to designate them of form consensual and to preserve them of the most appropriate way. Comments are made on aspects related to the origin of these standards, the developed work and that many of them, though they are not applied specifically to the stone, take into account the presence of this material in archaeological objects, works of art, masonry structures, and decorative elements.
