Resum

The rocks of the "Tramo de Transición" unit, in the Caravia area, represent the marine transgression experienced by the Asturian Basin during the moments before the Triassic-Jurassic Boundary. The studied unit corresponds to red and clayey sediments with evaporite levels and it is stratigraphically located under the first levels of limestone and dolomites of clear marine influence. The existence of syn-sedimentary extensional faults and glauconitic levels in the upper part of this unit provides new data about the initial stages of installation of the marine Jurassic environments in the area.
