Zusammenfassung

Analysis of trace elements (Sr, Fe, Mn, Pb and Zn), in important stratabound Zn-Pb deposits in Lower Cretaceous carbonated rocks (Aptian-Albian) from Cantabria (Spain) were made. The comparision of the average geochemical data between limestones and dolomites shows an important Zn, Fe and Mn enrichment in dolomites, inside the mineralized areas. Otherwise Sr and Pb are more abundant in limestones than they are in dolomites. Sr content in dolomites correspond with Sr content in late dolomitization domains. The geochemical data are in agreement with a genetic model related to late processes, where Zn, Fe an Mn enrichment is later than dolomitization, and the source of these metals is away from the enclosed rocks. Therefore these deposits must be considered as “late diagenetic-epigenetic” and not as “singenetic” in the strict sense.
