Resumen

Between 1940 and 1960, the United States experienced a deep fear about juvenile and youth delinquency. Trying to find a responsible for the increase of youth criminality some intellectuals showed that comic books were partially responsible. That thought was supported by newspapers, which published hundreds of news where the reading of crime comics was linked to lawbreakers. Local and State governments quickly reacted to citizenship´s demands and began to pass laws and ordinances forbidding the diffusion of crime comics. Finally the matter reached a Federal level when Senate studied measures which should be adopted to finish juvenile delinquency. Nevertheless, as Federal and State Court Decisions had declared unconstitutional some local and State legislation Senate decided not to introduce censorship and request publishers to self control measures instead.
